Jerry Lewis made honorary member of the Order of Australia

In recognition of his work in helping raise over $2 billion dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and also creating awareness of the disease, Jerry Lewis has been made an honorary member of the Order of Australia.

Accepting the award, Lewis said he was thrilled.

“It’s a very big thrill. It’s an honour,” he said.

“It’s a country I love next to mine.”

When asked why Australians gave him the award, he said: “[For] good and funny work.”

Jerry Lewis to star in a new movie

According to Deadline, Jerry Lewis will be starring in his first new movies in many years, titled Max Rose.

“Directed by Daniel Noah from his script, the film is a drama about a jazz pianist who has recently lost his wife of over five decades. A discovery made days before her death causes Max to believe his marriage was a lie. He embarks on an exploration of his own past that brings him face to face with a menagerie of characters from a bygone era.”

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that the 86-year-old entertainer is returning to the spotlight Nov. 18 at The Orleans Hotel & Casino.
PBS plans to broadcast “An Evening With Jerry Lewis — Live from Las Vegas!” in March around Lewis’ birthday.

Lewis has been busy preparing a Broadway musical version of “The Nutty Professor” based on the 1963 movie that Lewis directed and starred in.
